Boshu is not my real name if it was not obvious. But I can relate to it as my name.It is one of my nicknames.
I was born and brought up in Bangalore and finished my schooling and engineering in Bangalore itself. After finishing my Engineering in Information science, I spent a few months preparing for CAT, a management entrance exam in India. I wrote CAT but didn’t take up MBA. Instead I got into CAT coaching(as a part of the English faculty for a Coaching institute) as a full timer.
After about 15 months of English, I switched over to teaching “Engineering technology and management” for the final years in an engineering college close to my home. I definitely plan to continue in the same profession(teaching).Or atleast so I think. I have a great desire to do higher studies and am contemplating on how I would do this.
I identify myself greatly with Carnatic classical music. I started learning during my primary schooling and am still pursuing it.so one of my major interests lie in singing and listening to carnatic music and I have an ear for other kinds of music too.
Coming to the travelling bit,I love travelling and consider myself as a good traveller. As a part of training in my organization, I had gone to Pune. That seems to be one of my only official trips, but I have travelled quite a bit otherwise. Have travelled as a group from Bangalore with my sister to Valley of flowers, Badrinath , Hem Kund Sahib and few other places in Uttharanchal.Have also visited Jaipur, Bhopal to participate in some for All India music conpetitions.Have covered a large part of Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Kerala with my parents.I am definitely keen on travelling more.
Coming to my own experiences as a teacher, I feel it is quite different on the other side of the desk even though I feel I am learning along with the students.I feel a lot more responsible now. I look at a lot of things from a very different perspective from a student. As a beginner , I had some tough time understanding how to break the ice and make the students talk and interact in class. Also I understood it is a lot about knowing where to draw the line and strike a balance between being friendly and strict. I have had teaching experience of various kinds now. I was first coaching CAT aspirants . here my job was very different from what it is now because the variety of students ,my responsibilities and job profile was different.the variety of students was very wide in the former since the profile of the students was very different that time. I was also a part of an NGO called dream school foundation for a short while. Through this, i got the oppurtunity to teach 5th and 7th std kids in government schools. so that was another kind of teaching experience have . Now I am a lecturer teaching the final year students of an engineering college. So far, I had enjoyed taking classes for them. Sometimes the students go out of control. Those clases are slightly challenging. apart form this, now I have to evaluate these students as well. so I have a hold on them in some way. On the whole, I have learnt a few things on my way to becoming a good teacher and I am still learning.
This blog would ideally be a space for information and my space too(probabaly to let the world know what I like). I am also posting some interesting forwards . Since I find convocation speeches inspiring, I have included a few interesting ones I have come across so far.
I enjoy reading ur blog…
